Consisting of 2,000 lbs. of powdered coal and graphite.  Following graduate school, I decided to press my body directly into the earth or a landscape of coal.  Instead, I ended up making a mold of my body, and casting a positive of myself and pressed into the powdered coal.  The result created an impression of myself, the presence of my body through absence. This work ritualistically served as a transitional marker.
